Angry Aw Crap!

Duplicolor badly crazed my C6 shell. After priming it, it looked there was some crazing so I sanded it and was able to smooth it out. Did another coat of primer just for good measure. I went and laid down a mist coat of black waited couple hours then did another mist coat. At the end of the day I went and did the first wet coat and viola the swirly craze!

I did a lot of sanding yesterday to smooth it out as much as I can. I'll lay down Tamiya over it instead this time. I hope there won't be any reaction between the two.

The embossed flags on the front and the back and the engraved corvette in the back is pretty much gone

Oh well... I was thinking of getting another one at Walmart.

Wastegas, I know b*gger all about this kit, but I'm sure I've read somewere that many people have had paint reaction issues with the yellow plastic that Revell used for it.

Re: Aw Crap!

There is a major is a major issue with the latest batch of kits from Revell regarding the plastic type, a quick forum search would hopefully turn something up.
As is mentioned, there are paint reactivity issues which are rather a large concern for those of us that build Revell/Monogram subjects.

Instead of buying a new kit, call Revell on their toll free number and voice your issue with the kit.

Doh...it's just dawned on me that the latest batch of the Revell 1/8th Deuce I'm about to start is also yellow plastic, it's about the same colour as the C6's I've seen at Le Mans - I hope this doesn't suffer from the same issues as this thing is going to eat up body prep time and materials...grrrr!

Re: Aw Crap!

weird, i've heard all this talk about ti crazing the plastic but I've used duplicolor on a new hummer, mustang and C6 with no problems, it was red filler primer.

I used the white sandable primer on mine. Maybe I should've used gray so I could distinguish areas that was actually covered with primer since the mold was white.

Re: Aw Crap!

Duplicolor white primer has crazed every styrene kit that I've used it on. It works great on polyurethane.
