W.I.P. VW Golf GTI with Zender z6 bodykitt

Here's my new project.

I will start this one when I finished the Dodge Superbee.

It's the Volkswagen Golf GTI 16v from Revell (1:24) with an upgrade set from the Zender Z6 bodykitt. I bought this model for 7 euro .

Here some pics of the box:

The decals are very ugly because they're old and what had to be white is now yellow :P. I don't make a stock version but a German style of tuning. Cleaned all the way . Doorhandles, numberplateholes and all kind of that things have to be shaved with some putty.

For this kitt I bought some Fujimi spokewheels from a Lambourghini Countach:

here you can see the diffrences of the wheels. The rear wheels are wider.

the original wheels:

This kitt comes with an engine (not very detailled) which is very cool

I searched in some VW GOLF tuning magazines for a model I wanted to replicate.

This is the one I found:

This is what I want to do:

- shave the doorhandles
- shave numberplateholes
- modify the hood with airintakes (like the picture)
- modify the hinge of the hood (so it open like the picture)
- make some sleeves in the right sidefender
- paint the heart of the wheels in red
- paint the body in Mica Red or Metallic Red
- make an custom exhaust
- use a racing steering wheel
- make an rollcage
- use racing seats
- remove the back seat (maybe)
- and more little details

Enough to do as you can see

My model is not going to be like this one because mine have a bodykitt and other headlights bla bla bla..... I use these pics for all the details. But when it's finished it will be a little ''look a like''

Hope you like this one and suggestions and tips are always welcome!

Kris.

That's cool. The same basic kit is still available under the 'tuner' like from Revell Monogram.

Re: VW Golf GTI with Zender z6 bodykitt

A Zender Golf...now that brings back memories! Back then when I was 11 years old I built exactly that kit (and screwed it up big time ). Well I bought the Revell re-release tuner Golf this summer and it's almost finished...Old-School-German-Tuning-back-from-the-80's-style with the once so popular 175/50-13's
As soon as i have a digicam I'll post some pics.

Let's see some progress...

Do you really want these original wheels they're so small and ugly :P

I don't know where you live... but maybe I can send you the wheels or we can trade for some other wheels (suggestion)

Kris.

I couldn't gett my hands off this model so I made a little begin.

First I looked how the wheels fitt the Golf and I think it looks great with some lowering.

Than I made the sleeves (3) on the fender. Tomorrow I'll cut these sleeves out.

I also made the intakes in the hood. I printed out the figures. And they will also cutted out tomorrow.
Maybe I clean the original airintake on the hood what do you think????
