Amp and Sub to Bose

Hey, I have an 89 Nissan Maxima with the stock Kenwood head unit, and bose speakers. I just want a little more bass(not window rattling), just a little bit.

I found a cheap amp for 70 bucks(so I probably can get it around 40 with the discount). It is probably very weak and will only do enough to power the sub, which is all I want as I will probably buy a cheap sub as well.

My question is, will the aftermarket amp and sub work with the stock bose sound system?

Re: Amp and Sub to Bose

are you planning on adding a subwoofer with that amp? or do you want to change out the existing bose amp in the maxima? if you adding a sub "say a 10" or 12") then you can use an amp and wire it seprately. if your trying to replace the factory amp thats a whole different ballgame. that amp is made spcailly for thsoe speakers. factory speakers use wierd ohm ratings (as opposed to the usual 4 or 8 ohm speakers you buy in the aftermarket)

BTW, if your saving for an 08 maxima or an 08 Evo, I'd look else where in my opinion (unless nissan decides to do the maxima right... I think they ruined it in the current generation (04- present) I had an 01 maxima (same body style from 2000-2003) and I testdrove an 05 and 06, man.... they totally ruined it...

Re: Amp and Sub to Bose

I love the new body, I test drove an 05 myself, I thought it was nice. Nissan also said that in 07, they are going to focus more on luxury as well.

Besides, I dont think I'm buying a car next year anyway, I think Im spending the down payment on a bike.

Re: Re: Amp and Sub to Bose

well to each their own, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Some people HATED the 2000-2003 body. the thing that realy get me about nisan is how they have blured the lines between the altima and maxima. after, they are the same length, use the same engine, and have a lot of the same features, they need to do somethign with the maxima to make it more different from the altima

Re: Amp and Sub to Bose

to answer your original question you won't be able to use the amp and sub with the bose stereo unless you get a line output convertor.

Thats what Im leaning towards right now, Im just not sure yet.

I like the 00-03 body too. I never met a Max I didnt like. I just tweaked with the settings a little bit and decided I'll just keep it the way it is.

I do see how the Altima and Maxima are alike, but they always have been. Altima may be just as long but is still a touch smaller feeling inside. The new Maximas remind me of rocket ships when you sit in them. And once they add even more luxuries in the 2008 model, it will be even better. And the Max engine is only availible in the SE-R model of the Altima and its still a little weaker.
