Wilma Flooded Blazer

Hi and a healthy and properous new years to all.

My son has a 99 4x4 Blazer that was partially flooded during hurricane wilma. Salt water came up half way up the door. He was able to drive it home a day after and started all that day. Next day it refused to start. It has gas pressure (60psi) and ignition (it tries to start but dies) when starting fluid is used it starts until it runs out of juice. All gauges work except for the fuel guage. This little truck was a jewel before the flooding and he now has other transportation but I hate to see it go to a junkyard for maybe some minor (sensor) problem. The truck has been sitting and now the tranny is stuck on park, but this is another issue. Just want to get it started. Any comments are appreciated.

Yes, Change all the fluids. Drain the tank and put new fuel in. If it still will not start have someone run the codes and that will tell you the big picture. My opinion have the insurance company total it. The truck will more then likely become a headache. Water + Electronics = zappo. My 96 got fludded years back, the insurance agent asked me what i wanted. I said total it, he agreed. Good luck.

When I checked the fuel pressure, I dained some fuel it looked clean but its one of the suspects.

You're right about the mix of water and electronics but the kid had only liability coverage so the fix is on him. You're right about the fluids and I have resisted dropping the tank but given that the fuel gauge is the only gauge thats not working tells me something is going on with the sending unit.
