Windshield Wipers

I have a 2001 Silhouette and the wipers have stopped functioning correctly. They will only work on high and when you shut them off they stop where ever they are when you switch to anything but high. When the switch is in the off position there is a grinding type sound and the wipers do not go back to the set position. To stop the grinding noise I have to turn them on (anywhere except high). This just happened one day and did not have any issues leading up to this. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Windshield Wipers

Faulty switch or the control board is where I would look for problems.

Your talking about the switch on the steering column? Right?

Where is the control board located and is there a way I can test it?

Thanks

For what it's worth - I had a similar problem on a '95 Transport, replaced motor AND control switches, no luck. On both the original and the replacement motor (where the board is located), there are a pair of wipers contacting a rotor plate. Believe it or not, there was a bad contact between the arms and the buttons on the end. Soldered both and problems went away (worked on both motors). Good luck !

Re: Windshield Wipers

I had the same problem, replaced the wiper motor and the problem was solved. Fairly easy job, only trick is aligning the linkage so the wipers stop in the right position.
