girfriends son reversed battery cables F-150, help!

yes he did, i was not there when he did it but the truck misses, backfires and runs really rough, i was told i might have to change condenser or may be the ignition module, i did change the pick up coil about 3-4 months ago, its a 1983 ford f-150 with a straight 6 cyl. lots of miles but USE to run very good, anybody have any ideas??

It probably damaged the ignition module. The condensor. on these is only for radio noise/rfi surpression. Unless shorted to ground, it has no effect on running. Just disconnect it for now. Check the spark at the plugs. It should be a big , fat, blue spark. If its yellow, or weak, its likely the module.It shouldnt have damaged the pick up coil. Good luck
