3.1L knocking/rapping sound

about 2 months agoo my monte starting making a slight rapping or knocking sound. this being my only mode of transportation i drove it like that for about a week until i got a new car. i parked it after that week but after that i still started it up and drove it around b/c i figured it was blown probably not the smartest thing to do but o well. The knock seems to have gotten louder and the car seems to have lost power and shakes considerablly if i go over 30 MPH. But it will still start right up everytime i hit the key. any ideas of what is wrong with it?

It could be a blown head gasket on intake manifold gasket that has allowed water to get into the oil. This causes the oil to lose it's ability to lubricate and causes the engine to self destruct. Check your oil dipstick for evidence of water. If water does get into the oil, the oil will turn very thick, look like chocolate milk, and the level on the dipstick will increase. You can also look for a foamy like substance on the oil cap.
