87 B II fuel problem(electrical)

87 B II xlt 2.9 V6 automatic,4wd. OK,I have read everything on here that related to my problem,but have not found an answer. This was a free vehicle that "just quit one day and wouldn't start" this was 2 or 3 years ago and I got it given to me about a month ago. So,after repairing damage done by 11 year old"mechanic" I have a fuel delivery problem.Both of the fuel pumps work when I jump them. I am not getting power to the relay in the on position,only when I turn key to start.I have a haynes manual wiring diagram and I don't know where the power distribution box is.Is this fusebox spelled sideways? If so I don't see a circuit for the fuel pumps,then ,what is the eec power relay,and where is it.If I don't have power at any of those places,then I can keep going further back. Also having not run and with no battery could there be codes stored that might help,even just from cranking the engine? Thanks in advance,I see a lot of great advice on this site.

EEC= E.lectronic E.ngine C.ontrol. which is what a normal (non-Haynes-writing) individual calls the Computer. More often than not, after 2-3 years of sitting, the codes would be wiped out. (You might check the Chapter 4 which would tell you how to erase any codes that might be there.)

Other than that, I don't have much advice to give. My 87 Big Bronc had trouble one day, and it was the leads going to the secondary (high-press.) pump. I got under the frame rail, and found my red wire was corroded and falling off the post. (Of course, i had to take the cover off to see it.)

The pumps are working,I jumped the pink and black wire to the battery and both pumps ran. I DON"T have power to the relay. Next question. Will a 2wd computer (everything else the same) work in this truck?

Thank you for your reply. I still want to know what the power distribution box is and where it is located,I don't think it exists. So, to repeat.there is a connecter on the left side of the engine room rhat has the pink and black wire that goes from one to two wires,one each for the front and in tank pump.If I jump from the battery,they work. There is no power distribution box on a 87 B2. They were only on the 89-90 models. The fuel pumps will only run for a few seconds when the key is turned to run and the engine is not running. There will be power when the key is turned to start. All of your power connections are on the passengers side inner fender near the air cleaner area. Look for "green" powder at the connections. Also there are bolts that come up from the inner fender that are supposed to have a rubber cap on them so they do not chafe through the wiring harness. If these caps get knocked off the bolts will eat their through the harness and usually takes out the power supply for the computer and the fule pumps. Hope this helps.

Forgot something. The green powder is a sign of corrosion and may be a open circut. If the green is at a connector, tug lightly on the wire and see if it pulls out. If the green is in the middle of a harness, cut it open and see if a wire has broken.
