turbo on stock accord 97

OK guys, i dont know much about turbos, just that they help increase the hp if you have everything. So i need a little help. If i buy a kit off of eBay, for an h22 for about $800, i know it doesnt have everything, what else would i need besides a different manifold and piping, or would those parts even fit on my 97 honda f22. also would i need to put new heads on it to where they can with stand the extra pressure. Or could you tell me where i can get a really good deal. My goal is to not have to replace anyhting with the fuel system or anything, just add a turbo and gain some good hp. Also what would i do to turn it up from about 8 psi of boost to say 15 or something?

Thanx any help is needed.

( Im going to try and race my girlfriends dad in his jag xj8 with 290 hp)

Not to put a damper on your plans or anything but you cannot put a turbo on a NA motor and not do anything to the fuel. Gasoline engines will run only if the fuel/air ratio is within a few percent of stoichiometric. In plain english, if you are going to add more air, you have to add more fuel or you will be melting pistons ect. There are several ways of doing this short of going to a stand-alone fuel managment system and they vary per car and turbo. As far as beefing up the engine if you look at what is different between a NA motor and the turboed option you will see where the weak spots were and what they had to do to use a turbo. I suggest you study up on turboed gasoline engines and the such before you go and blow your engine up. There is plenty of documentation available.

Re: turbo on stock accord 97

BTW-- Without building your internals, you will be destroying the long term reliability that honda's are known for. If you intend on keeping this car, it's not a good idea to turbo without built internals.

And NO, you should definitly not go to 15 PSI on stock internals, honestly I wouldn't go 8 without building up first. Like IMC said, do research, before you go and blow your engine up. Learn about turbos, and your car, before you start changing it.

Dont take offense, just trying to help.

BTW, do you have auto or manual?
