98 Ranger, Ignition Key wont turn

Had problem with Ignition key would not turn in my 98 Ford Ranger 4.0.
$300 later, Had truck towed to Ford where they had to replace the Ignition key cylinder. Is this a common problem on this truck?

Hi ya.I have a 99 Ranger with the same problem.About once every 6 months or so I spray the inside of the switch with greasless LPS and this cures it.
