will this matter

i just developed an exhaust leak from bad motor mounts and sometimes i notice something like a boost leak...i floor it and my boost guage goes up to like 12 and my motor roars but i dont have any power, i can let off the gas and it will have more power but when the pedals all the way down, i have none...will a leak in the flex tube of the exhaust make this happen or is there a leak between the filter and the motor?....does this make any sense at all or am i asking a stupid question?

I say your clutch is slipping. You should include more information like standard or auto year ect. Obviously turbo if you think it might have boost leak.

Just thought about it some more. You would have problems if you had a leak between your head and the turbo. This could also be your problem.

i have a 92 tsi all stock...ive also developed new problems recently...when im in neutral, i try to put it in 1st or reverse and it grinds really bad for first but goes in and it wont even go into reverse...I have to turn my car off to put it in reverse...i also have problems going into all the other gears but it feels like they just hang up for a second so i keep pushing and it goes in...so far i know my motor mounts are really bad and my struts are going bad and i have an exhaust leak in the downpipe...is my transmision problem the clutch going out or the transmition itself?......my transmision problems also didnt start until my slave cylinder went out so i put a new one in and bled the slave cylinder and it started grinding into gear...

Re: will this matter

where does your clutch engage?

i would bet its not fully disengaging.

i agree with qwklil4, it sounds like your clutch engage point is 'past the floor' meaning when you push the clutch pedal to the floor, the clutch still isn't fully disengaged. in order to fix this, adjust the clutch (there are instructions all over the internet on how to do this) and try bleeding it after that. it should help you with the shifts...as for your power loss, it could be multiple things.
boost leaks, clutch slipping (caused by a foreign substance on the friction material), bad plugs/wires, air filter, egr valve, etc.
to tell if your clutch is slipping, get to like 3rd gear around 3000 rpms...then give the car WOT. if the rpms jump up easily and the car doesn't seem to really go any faster, than it is slipping.

as for the exhaust leak, if it's leaking from your downpipe, it will not affect performance. if it were before the turbo i would imagine it would.
