Left Fender Almost On Tire

I Started To Feel A Vibration In The Front End And It Went From Bad To Worse Real Quick , I Pulled Over And Looked And I Noticed That The Fender On The Passengers Side Was Almost On The Tire ... And When I Pushed Down On The Pass. Fender It Was Already Down As Far As It Was Going To Go ... The Drivers Side Was Fine ... I Pulled The Strut Off And Inspected It And The Spring Looked Fine ... Could It Be The Spring And I Can'T See Anything Or Could It Be Something Else ? ? ? ? Thanks Bob Kaps P. S . IT'S A 1992 SATURN SL2

Re: Left Fender Almost On Tire

check for seized parts. inspect balljoints. check ride height.

the only things i can think of in your case are the stock seized in the lowered position, or something in the suspention has broke. i would need to see it myself for a deeper diaginosis.

sounds like a broken or worn spring. if its down on the wheel and it doesnt compress, something is wrong with the spring. if the strut was bad the spring would still hold it up. springs can get weak over time. can you compress the spring pretty easily by hand?

I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU MEAN BY [ STOCK SEIZED ] ??? THERE WAS A LITTLE PLAY WHEN I PUSHED DOWN ON THE FENDER BUT NOT MUCH AT ALL , COMPAIRED TO THE DRIVERS SIDE ABOUT A 2" DIFFERENCE IN HEIGHT OFF THE TIRE ... I TOOK THE STRUT OUT AND I CAN'T SEE A CRACK OR ANYTHING I DIDN'T THINK IT WOULD GET NOR DID I EVER SEE ONE SIDE GET THAT BAD WITHOUT A BROKEN SPRING , MAYBE I JUST CAN'T SEE IT OR IT'S JUST WORN THAT BAD ??? I'M GOING TO CHECK THE BALLJOINT AND LOWER CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS BEFORE I INSTALL THE NEW STRUTS AND SPRINGS ... THANKS BOB KAPS

I HAVEN'T REMOVED THE SPRING OFF THE STRUT AS OF YET BUT STILL ON THE STRUT I CAN COMPRESS IT ABOUT AN INCH OR SO , WHICH I THOUGHT WOULD BE MORE AS I'M 285 POUNDS WITH 18 1/2 ARMS , THATS WHY I POSTED THE THREAD , I THOUGHT THE SPRING WOULD COMPRESS A LOT EASYIER OR I WOULD FIND A CRACK ? ? ? ? BUT I WILL CHECK THE BALL JOINT BEFORE I INSTALL THE NEW ONES THANKS AGAIN BOB KAPS
