Angry Active aero go bye bye :(

Here is the story... I was out for a drive and it was looking good, highway was totally clear, and you know what that means :P
So I give it my all... Well when I was reaching my top speed (170 - 175), I hear a loud ass noise come from the bottom of my car... I was worried so i pulled over... I got out to inspect everything... I didnt really noticed anything wrong, but I noticed the front of my car looked odd... then I noticed my front spoiler (wind damn) was gone!!! yes that was the loud noise . oh well...

175?! heck ya!

tell me, at that speed, what gear were you in? what engine speed? how much boost you're running? was your car still pulling?

....crrrrrazy! i'd love to go that fast in a car sometime. you'll have to make it to the next TX gathering sometime, whenever one is planned. i think your car would hang with the top cars in TX (those belonging to Adam McDougal (AdamVR4 on 3si) and Omar (adrenalineVR4 on 3si). they're both pushing around 500 awhp. i bet you could contend quite nicely, if not beat them.

let me know whenever you take it to the track, i'd love to see you run it.

...oh ya, sorry to hear about the front air damn.

You probably hit something in the road to rip it off. I have never heard of someones AA flying apart because of wind speed.

Theres a air dam that drops down in conjunction with the rear spoiler. With the front not hooked up or broken the rear wont work either.

Re: Active aero go bye bye :(

I should be pushing more than 500 AWHP... when I had just a stock engine I had 15g upgraded turbos with 550cc injectors... and that was promised over 500 AWHP. I'm running on a built engine now and have much more upgrades than when I did then... Infact im thinking on moving up a grade on my turbos and go to bigger injectors. (more bang for my kick) you know how it is when you get used to what you have... that 120mph mark is geting to confortable... hehe (I geuss that aint much of a good thing) though I have never dynoed my car ( I road tune it my self, cause its cheaper and I know how). I plan to schedule a dyno date here in the future. But I'm going to do some upgrades I've been negleting here for a loooonnggg time... Brakes and suspension. yes I'm running high horse on stock suspension and brakes... but after I get that I'll save money for a dyno. Oh and to let you know how the car handles at that speed... even with stock suspension it handles like a dream, I have a freind with a ferrari 360 modeana and it is very camparable with that.
To let you know my the fastest I have ever gone in my car is 176... I wouldnt recomend it. I always stop before 180 because well most sport tires are rated at 180mph... and thats when I start to think about that. haha but yeah anyone selling a wind damn tell me :P

Re: Active aero go bye bye :(

haha, i lost mine along time ago. But that was to a meddlesome curb. The remenants quickly came off later in my garage. I have to say man, you have bigger balls than I do. I'll take mine up to 140 no problem, but after that, cops, potholes, and tireblow-outs become too much of a concern.
I'm definantly looking forward to hearing some numbers on your car as well though...I'm sure they will be quite impressive.

Re: Active aero go bye bye :(

thats why you keep good care of your tires (prevents blowouts) and find a perfect long smooth straitaway that never has cops or any other cars... I live in a town right out side Ft.wroth - dallas and if you drive about 30 mins out into the country where there is a lot of rich ppl you can find alot of perfect deserted highways. no potholes and nothing but long strait highways with some long smooth turns. infact we should have a nice little cruise out here sometime, i know a good drive for about 20 or so miles (I know that isnt much but is a pretty bad ass highway, 2 lanes on both sides and out in the country in the middle of no where and nothing but trees on both sides, and they just got through paveing it 2 - 3 mounths ago, so no pot holes) Its the highway I use to tune my car and all my freinds cars.

No its feels like a massive head rush... just imagine being shaked really hard... and I'm not sure about the tach being off or not... but I doubt its off more than 5 mph.

If you are on the stock speedo gear its been known to be off by more than 15 mph at those speeds.
