Unhappy Shaking and shuddering. PLEASE HELP!!!

well, i just got a '99 cougar, and i have two problems with it... ONE: When i turn the car on and put it into reverse the car sort of shakes/shudders it also does this after you put it into drive until the car warms up. it doesn't do it all the time, just sometimes... does anyone know what is up, what could possibly going wrong?? TWO: sometimes the car will make an extremely loud whining noise when i start it up. i thought it was due to the heater, but it is now doing it more often... I JUST got this car... and now i'm afraid that it was a mistake... :S PLEASE HELP!!!!

i would replace the fuel filter and see if that helps.

the whining noise could be what is called moosing. Does it sound like a loud howling noise?

my girlfriends 99 cougar recently started making a loud howling noise, it only does it sometimes though, mostly when turning, do you know what it could be?

yeah the noise is like a loud howling noise... it seems to be happening when i put the car into reverse, and then it stops most of the time when i put it into drive.... and then like the other guy said... it does it a lot when i turn i thought that i was going crazy when i heard it.... but i guess it's just something weird... lol... how expensive are we talking to replace what i need to replace to get the stupid noise to STOP!!!?!?
