MSD 6a ignition
I have a 93 GAGT. I am thinking about installing the MSD 6a ignition. 8.5mm wires, and Bosch Platinum+4
Anyone have any experience with them, and which coil do i use. The stock is has the 3coil pack. Thanks |

Re: MSD 6a ignition
not sure about those coils, MSD makes good stuff from what I've seen/heard. Those wires would be great too, but try to stay away from those Platinum plugs.
You will be dissapionted when you hav to replace them in a few months. They burn up fast, and I hav seen the electrode in the center fall out, inside the chamber. not good!

Re: MSD 6a ignition
The coils are good along with the wires. But like xeroinfinity states the plugs are junk. Stay with iridium or other plugs. Bosch +4 and most Bosch plugs are junk, in my opinion especially in GM engines.

Re: MSD 6a ignition
I read elsewhere to stay away from the iridium plugs, which was why o was leaning toward the +4's .
Autolite double platinums were my next choice. Called MSD today, they must be closed observing the New Year holiday. The automated system kept me on hold for over an hour. |

Re: MSD 6a ignition
After further research, the 6a is no good as the 93 GAGT is a distributorless system.
Upgrades would be as follows for MSD MSD 62152 http://www.msdignition.com/ignition_24_6211_6215.htm MSD 8224 x3 http://www.msdignition.com/coil_blaster_9_sci_8224.htm MSD 8870 x3 http://www.msdignition.com/install_access_dis_1.htm So far Summit Racing has the best prices. If anyone can find cheaper please post. |
