S Indicator Blinking

What does the S mean on the dash when it's blinking?

My 91 Honda Accord has never been modified, it has 67k miles on it. So I don't really think its the engine or something.

I just want to know what the S indicator means when it's blinking. What does the S stand for?

Thanks for your time

Re: S Indicator Blinking

This has been covered on this site many times. The S button when depressed changes the shift pattern by keeping it in a lower gear for a longer time. A flashing S light can mean a bad speed sensor which is the thing that drives the speedometer and also affects the cruise control. Or it could mean a Transmission control module problem. Do you have any other changes in the way the car operates?

I notice a bit of slippage, when I try to accelerate. It feels like no matter how i step on the gas, it doesn't accelerate as fast. But that's only on the first gear (i think, cause its an automatic Trans)

Re: S Indicator Blinking

Sounds like a bad speed sensor pulser. It is a sensor mounted to the transmission on the fire wall passenger side. Your speedometer will probably stop working soon.

Re: S Indicator Blinking

Don' t know your mechanical ability but it is held in with two screws. Do a search on this web site for speed sensor and one post will refer you to a another site with detailed instructions and pictures.
