Diagnostics information help

Here in New Zealand it is a lot harder to find information on American cars, so I need your help in finding a list of the scensor values for a 91 5.7 Ltr. TPI motor. In the past if I have had a problem I have just used an educated guess to find the fault. So far this has worked out OK but if I had access to this information it would take a lot of the guess work out and speed up the diagnosis process no end. Even just a web address would be a great help. So far Google has been no help.

What kind of "sensor values" are you looking for?
Are you looking for the fault codes from the ECM?

thanks for the reply Morley.
What i'm realy looking for is a list of the Std values or ohms at each of the scensors around the engine. Very handy for finding an intermitant fault that wont always show up as a error code.

Ah, I see. The sensors by their nature don't have a set ohm value. They vary with temp, air flow, position, etc.

An example of what i'm looking for I found on the iroc site that was given me.
Throttel position scensor, (MAF equiped) = 0.540vDC +- 0.075vDC when closed going up in an even flow to WOT @ > 4.000vDC
Each scensor must have a starting value and a max. at a given point

Well, yes and no. Some examples are...
Mass Air Flow Sensor, it has 5 volts applied to it from the ECM and returns a voltage signal to the ECM, that voltage signal will vary depending on air flow through the sensor.

Coolant temp sensor, the ohm value of it will vary with temp....same with the Intake air temp sensor.

Oxygen sensor generates a mV signal (0-1000) depending on the air fuel ratio it is in.

The throttle position sensor you mentioned, that is how to set it....Set to .54 volts for idle and dhould be over 4V at WOT.

Thanks for your time and help Morley. As each day rolls around I manage to pick up a little bit more from all sorts of places and are well on the way to haveing a half usfull list of static values.
