2002 Quest Radio Control Lights

I just purchased a used 2002 Quest. It has a Radio/Cassette/CD player. I noticed that a few of the back lights do not light up at night when the headlights are one. These are the SEL button, Tape/CD button and the names over the numbered buttons on the bottom. Also, the buttons on the steering wheel do not light. I looked at another 2002 Quest and it appears that these buttons also do not light up. However, I was given a Ford Explorer as a rental and all of the buttons, even the ones on the steering wheel light up. I would like to know if these buttons should be lite or if some reason they are not. Thanks for any response.
