Honestly, How is 05 Mustang GT?

Hi guys..

happy new year..

well, l have a question.

l currently own a 97 firebird formula (pic. is on my signature) and l love birds and l know they are damn fast. but l am going to change my car or get a second car. but l am not sure which car should l get.

should l get a low miles 02 WS6 trans-am? or brand new Mustang GT? l know WS6 is faster than new mustang GT but l dont excatly trust birds relailibity.

could u please compare these cars and give me some advices about these? and which one should l get?

thank you.

Re: Honestly, How is 05 Mustang GT?

Well again its going to be personal preference. The mustang you will pay more for because its new. Also from what I have been seeing its pretty easy to get the new mustang to run very fast times. I don't know I would say go with your gut, I think the new mustang looks better and really is no less of a car. Also the Fbods are nice too I have nothing bad to say about them either. I am sure this really didn't help much but its just my personal feelings.

Re: Honestly, How is 05 Mustang GT?

thank you man...

l really think if you mod the new stang GT. l think it will look much much better than f-body.. l just needed some advices so l would feel better.

also, 02 WS6 trans-am (low miles, clean) and 05 mustang GT prices are almost the same.. so l would like to make the right decision. about relaibility, comfort, luxury, speed if would compare these between those cars, and let me know, that would be appriciated.

thank you.

Re: Honestly, How is 05 Mustang GT?

Pick up an 03/04 Cobra that would be your best bet. The 05 Mustangs still have many of the same problems the old ones had. Such as ergonomics, they arn't particularly well built, they rattle, and they are F*ing huge.

It literally sounded like something wasn't screwed together properly in the back seat, though a close inspection revealed nothing out of place.

Re: Honestly, How is 05 Mustang GT?

I know for a fact that the 05/06 Mustangs are built better than mine is. They are structurally more sound to say the least. Also, not to discredit anything 01L2Cobra said, but to me the ergonomics are far improved from the last generation mustangs. He was right though, if power to price is your goal, than the 03 cobra would definately not disapoint. As far as reliablility, I haven't heard anything really bad about the reliability of a Fbody or the 05 mustangs, or Cobras for that matter. Luxury, well I would have to say that the new mustang is nicer interior wise, the firebird never had a particularly striking interior. Speed, I would say that the Trans Am is maybe a little faster in stock form than the new GT, however the 03/04 Cobras are definately quicker than either of the two, and cheapest to make faster.

Re: Honestly, How is 05 Mustang GT?

but 03/04 cobras are expensive man.. even more expensive than new GT.

Not really even the guys from CanadianDriver that test drove one commented on how bad they rattle.

As far as ergonomics go have a read

Re: Honestly, How is 05 Mustang GT?

That could be, when I drove one I didn't have a drink with me. But the shifter was in a far better location than my own, the seat was nicer and the pedals were nicer in my opinion.

Re: Honestly, How is 05 Mustang GT?

Doodad, don't base it off of "well sometimes they rattle". The test car given to CanadianDriver had probably been flogged by other mags too....

My '94 doesn't have any interior rattles....and it doensn't have subframe connectors installed (yet).

And doodad, you KNOW how bad F-body interior fit/finish is....

I think the '02 TA would retain its value more, being the last year of it. The LS1 is a pretty mean sucker right off the showroom floor too.....

The 05/06 Stang will turn more heads though. Especially if you put the right wheels on, and I personally like the grille on the Pony Package. Don't know if it's available on a GT, but I'm sure CDC will be selling them soon...

Re: Honestly, How is 05 Mustang GT?

Speaking of the wheels, the 06 models can be ordered with 19 inch wheels, it takes up alot of the wheel gap and looks really sharp.

a terminator would probaly hold more value then a 02 TA and definatly turns more heads then 05/06 gt's. and im pretty sure the pony package is only avalable for v6's
