Sea foam in high mileage engine?

Would this be a good idea? It has over 240,000 miles. i was going to change my oil and add this "ring-seal" additive i got to help decrease the oil burn off. I also got some sea foam but was wondering if it could make it worse from cleaning the engine out too much.

Re: Sea foam in high mileage engine?

My car had (had to say goodbye tonight) 204,400 miles, and I decided against using seafoam, because that carbon buildup was actually making the engine run right. If you were to remove the buildup from the side of the cylinder walls, there might be more oil going by the piston rings, actually increasing oil consumption.

my friend had a 1.5 with 287,000 miles on it after we put in sea foam in it and the smoke begain to clear it started to knock five days later it blew up but I also used it in my 97 civic the same day it only had 133,000 miles on it and it made a noticeable improvment in gas mileage and pick up so i would say it good stuff for cars in the 55,000 to 150,000 mile range but be careful on higher mileage engines

Its not recommended for high mileage car because oil leak might develope buy if you have less than 125K to 150K, i think it would be safe. Around 240k miles, i wouldn't recommend.
