Frankenstein B20Z with B18c5 head ?

Hey,
I got a 89 accord lx-i, ova the summer i got some dough and wanna swap in a new motor. Soudns liek a cr-vtec is the way to go. Now how much will a mounting kit for a B20Z cost, and do i need one for the B20Z if a B20A drops straight in ? Now what is the best way to build up a B20Z while having it in the car the entire time, like spending my money on upgrades in steps.....type R heads ? I/H/E, CAI stuff liek that. I want this car to be as fast as it can as a daily driver on pump gas. I also want to swap in a 5 speed, will that improve my 1/4 mile with all that torque ? thanks for any help

I dont want to shit on your parade, but im pretty sure it takes a lot of custom work to fit a b-series motor in an accord. I think the mounts are in different places and would have to be relocated. Not to mention the nightmare of wiring it up. your best bet would be an h22a from a prelude, but I have no idea how or if it would work in an 89. maybe you can get more info in the 3rd gen accord forum on this board if you havent checked it out already. Those guys could probably help you better than I could.
peace

B series in a 3g

hey
nah, one thing i know from being on that board is B20A is an accord SiR engine and is a str8 drop into a 89 accord, so i was thinkin if a B20B works the same way, and what about the heads, anyone know ?

your best bet is going to be going with the H22A it should bolt in much easier. plus you will spend less cash and have more power out of the box. the b20b only puts 133hp at the crank..i beleive. and the H22 puts 200. granted it is more money 2500 for the H22 i beleive and you can pick up b20's for cheap.....800 for a long block but you will need tranny, mounts, ecu axles..etc...

I thought i've seen someone in the 3rd gen accord do a B16 swap into the 3rd gen accord, not 100% positive tho, but i think it is possible, just alot of work.

Anyone else know ?

Back to the top................Anyone have an opinion as to the best way to build up a B20Z prolly with B16 port n polished heads ? I wanna be able to run 10-11s in my car after a turbo, Maybe running 20lbs of boost even ? What would i have to do to the B20Z block to handle that much pressure, thanks

boosting the b20Z is good. invest in bigger fuel injectors, bigger fuel pump, MSD ignition, and a standalone engine management system.
