8hp is too good to be true? Sounds about right for a $440 system and a long stroke motor like the QR.

a lot of that is probably gained in the higher rpms where the qr makes almost no power, 12 hp is possible up top due to a shift in the powerband

k good. cuz i've heard you're lucky to get 2-3 hp from puttin an exhaust on unless you get new headers too. thanks for the replies

well, which motor u got?
I say 8~12 hp gain on QG18 is crap, especially without a CAI and the header

oooh, hmm, that changes things. The 8-12hp estimate is most likely for the QR engine. Unless you love the sound of a 4-cylinder with an exhaust system, I'd say it's a waste of money.

does anybody know of any exhaust for the QG18 that actually improve performance?

question for fugiot... they said this exhaust is made for the QG18. it'll also fit a SER or spec v. Why would it not get the hp gain if it's made for that engine? please explain. sorry for all the stupid questions, but i want to check with people who know the car better before i buy anything. thanks for the help.

The largest gain you'll see out of any exhaust system for the QG is about 4-5hp. The exhaust on that site was probably originally designed for the SE-R, since they don't actually mention the QG anywhere in the description. The QG is hard to find parts for. Is your car a 5-speed? PM for some details on other more effective mods you can do. Exhaust should be on the bottom of your list unless, like I said before, you just absolutely want the sound of a 4-cylinder exhaust.

Are you sure only 4-5HP, the 1.6L GA16DE has been dyno proven to gain 6-7HP with a 2" pipe over the stock, but maybe the stock is smaller than the stock pipe for the QG.

yeah, that's true. try to get other mods 1st.
the cat back gains hp because of less air flow restriction,
but the air flow would still be restrict by ur stock air filter and header.
with just the cat back itselfs barely does anything except the sound.

it's like....install an intercooler before u have a turbo.

lol....im replacing my exhaust system with a muffler from ebay with 2.5 inch piping from my local shop...with a new catylistic converter, its going to cost the same, so i say why not when im doin CAI as well...im kinda not towards the headers since they void warrenty if i still have any left...
