cougar vibration
I was wondering if anyone can confirm my vibration problem with my 95 cougar. The steering vibrates noticeably at lower speeds, I dont notice it at higher speeds and only when I appy the brake. I am thinking maybe ball joints or tie rod ends, It has 48000 miles, does not seem like enough to wear them out but it has been in florida for 4 years. Thanks if you can help----John

Sounds like warped brake rotors.
You can have them resurfaced but the vibration will return. New brake rotors & pads is what you need. |

i just got done having a very similar problem on my wifes cougar, with me, the steering wheel rapidly moved back and forth while driving, it did it really bad when going slow, then the faster the car went, the less it moved back and forth, but as the car got faster, the shaking of the steering wheel got worse, also, when pressing on the brakes it pulled to the left, it turns out it was just a front tire, i guess from being so old, a belt broke inside the tire, which caused a lump on the tread to form, after having the old tires looked at it turns out both of them had lumps, got 2 new tires and it drives like new
