Lightbulb u bend delete

i just came across a u bend delete that is a stock piece with the cat and all just with a straight pipe where the u bend used to be. it is all in one peice- the cat, straight pipe, etc. i am putting it in tomorrow-, it looks like all i have to do take out a couple of bolts and gaskets- is there something special about the procedure? also, what are the name of the gaskets i will need? thanks

Re: u bend delete

you will need the catalytic converter inlet and outlet gaskets. What year is your car, and I can get the part numbers for you.

Re: u bend delete

What brand did you get? Whether it will be a total bolt on operation depends on whether you have a downpipe included with the CAT and straight pipe/u-bend delete.

If it is just the CAT convertor with the straight pipe/u-bend delete more work may be needed to get it all to fit. The stock downpipe from the exhaust manifolds to the input of the CAT convertor is welded on last time I checked. If it is a complete one piece unit with downpipe then you'll need the gasket at the exhaust manifold downpipe flange and one for the resonator flange. If the input of the aftermarket CAT is flanged you'll need a custom connection done by a muffler shop. Normally the CAT input on stock and aftermarket is just an open input pipe and will require welding. Some just need a u-clamp and may fit over the stock downpipe.

Checkout the link below. It is for a Random Technologies unit which comes complete with one piece downpipe, CAT and u-bend delete.

Re: u bend delete

it is an 01 gt and it is the complete downpipe, cat, and straight pipe, everything is already welded in place. it came off another 01 gt so i am pretty sure it should bolt on. i will know in a couple of hours, depending on if i can get the gaskets at a local auto store.
