'92 tranny: what is this sound?

Go to this link http://home.comcast.net/~mnkwrobes/tranny.wav
(it will play a 13 second wav file).
This sound is coming from the tranny, you can hear it best by putting your ear close to the wheel well (drivers side) You cannot hear it from the passenger side. I haven't looked at the sticker...but its appears this is the original transmission.
What is this sound? (it gets "faster" when you give it throttle) In browsing other posts...some referred to the tranny chain (the drive chain I'm assuming) and some referred to the tranny vacume modulator. BTW...I have no leaks of ATF and its a nice cherry red color...no shifting/drivability problems either. If anyone can shed light...I'd appreciate it, its driving me nuts!

It sorta sounds like a cracked flex plate or converter to me. Have you pulled the converter dust shield off yet?

I haven't. Where it that located? I don't drive the vehicle real hard, I try to baby it since I only use it to go to work and back (20 miles round trip per day)
BTW, That sound has been present since I bought the car (@80k) so its been there for quite a while FYI.

This is all a moot point now. Lucky for me, the Kia dealer gave me $500 bucks for it as a trade-in when I bought my '06 Rio. It took 15 minutes of waiting time before it would shift into gear (from a cold start) and started to slip real bad along with the patented shuddering and slamming noises of a tranny ready to blow up. A new trans, even a rebuild...wouldn't have been worth it. May she rest in peace. At least I'll be getting better gas mileage.
