4.6L engine swap

Hello everyone.

I'm looking into purchasing a late model cougar and swapping in a 4.6L Mustang GT engine.

I wanted to know if other people have done it and if the stock transmission would hold up to all the extra torque.

Would I have to buy a V6 version to do the swap?

Are you talking about putting a 4.6L V8
from a rear wheel drive Mustang
into a '99+ front wheel drive Cougar?

Re: 4.6L engine swap

your gonna need this to do the swap......a BIG garage, about $10,000 and alot of patient friends who will work late at night with you. converting FWD cars into RWD is NOT easy by any means. its going to take an un-godly amount of fabrication to get that thing even rolling. best advice....by a GT mustang. or better yet, with the money spent on that conversion, a SS camaro.

Re: 4.6L engine swap

Don't be a sellout and get a Camaro... Geez...Terrible advice.

I agree that it would take some cash, late nites, friends, and a large garage though. Just get a Thunderchicken or Cougar that already has a 4.6 in it.
