Smile transmission cooler installation

Hi,

I'm going to install a transmission cooler in my 1985 GMC 1/2 ton van. I've read that plastic ties might not be the best way to attach the cooler to the a/c cooler and radiator. I don't plan on doing any towing.

Is there a cooler kit with mounting plates or straps that will work in my vehicle?

Any other helpful advice is appreciated.

( I'm not able to download coolerman's article on transmission cooler installation)

Not strictly a Honda question, so Ill move it to the general Tech section for you.

and give and answer.

Plastic ties are certianly not the best way to attach it. They will come lose with time, or wear through and break. And having a lose oil cooler flialing around in your engine bay is not a good thing.

Most coolers come with predrilled holes in each end, and quite often some metal plates with right angle bends in them.
Use these to BOLT the cooler to somewhere secure in the fount of your Ute. If there are no mounting plates then you can easily get some scrap metal from a panal beater or enginering work shop and cut and drill it to fit.
