2000 Cirrus 2.5L V6 24V Coolant Issue

Hello and Thanks in advance for your help.

My Cirrus blows cold air when I have the heater turned to the hottest setting. The Thermostat is working and the car is not over heating. Once the car has been driven a while the heater starts blowing warm again. Funning thing is I smell coolant and see coolant coming from the filler cap near the thermostat. The hose coming from the top of the radiator to the thermostat. Any ideas what this could be causing this issue?

Sincerely,

Terry
