slow/tilting power window

my 02 venture has about 52k. my driver side power window is having an issue. while closing the window, when it reaches the midway point of being closed, it tilts forward a bit, and slows to almost a stop before it finally resumes closing normally. any ideas?

I had a similar problem last year, which seems to be coming back.

Anyway, below is a link to what I did to make it work. I don't know if it will work for you, but you could give it a try. Cost was $5 (for the trim removal tool).

I'm having a similar issue w/ my 97 Venture, but the fix described in GregA's post wasn't the fix for me. My driver window actually tilts forward and completely gets stuck. I have to lift the front of the window by hand (or push it up from underneath the front corner w/ the door panel off) to allow it to roll all the way up and line up. It's almost as if it gets off track, but I can't figure it out.

I have a 99 Venture. This issue of a tilting, sticking, or completely stuck drivers side window seems to be common. I have tried lubricating the moving parts inside of the door, but I still have a problem. When the window gets about half way up it starts tilting and gets very slow. Like others have said I have to "help" it up. I can not find anything visiably wrong with the mechanisms either. If someone finds a fix for this I would appreciate a response or an e-mail.

Hi All, I have a 99 Montana that has developed the same tilting/sticking/slow rising issue. Too cold to rip into right now, but I also would like any info. for a spring time repair. Thanks.

LOL! This is good. My 2000 Venture has 62K miles and when I lower the pasenger window it goes half way down then slows down to half speed for two seconds then resumes normal speed and drops on down. Doesn't tilt one way or the other, just slows down like it's tired.

Just finished fixing my drivers side window. Tilting forward / binding up going down or up... Replaced window regulator. $30 part at our local GMC/ Pontiac dealer. Window goes up and down just as it was supposed to. Good luck folks!

I had this same problem with the passenger window on my 98 Venture. I removed the door panel and lubricated all of the metal tracks and rollers with white lithium grease. The original lube was pretty dried up and gummy. The window operates perfectly once again. I also did the same thing to the driver's side window to prevent the same problem from happening in the future.

although i was going to attemp the fix as shown by GregA, i didn't have to--i have the best chevrolet dealer-they fixed it for free!!!

Did they tell you what the problem was?

nope-they didn't say and i didn't ask. i was prepared to pay them to fix it, since i'm real busy, but they said there's no charge.

Here is the reason why everyone's windows are screwing up. The felt lining inside the channels that GM used is crap and actually wears out with time. The quick, easy, non messy fix is this. A can of silicone spray w/ the red spray tube. Roll your windows down all the way. At the bottom of either channel, spray the silicone into the channels. Spray till you see it start to run down. Stop spraying. Roll your windows up and down a couple of times. You can do it again for good measure. Both my windows started doing the tilting forward crap, I took a door panel off to see what was wrong and even tried adjusting the arms but didnt work. I told a friend and he suggested the silicone spray, and sure enough, worked like a charm. Both windows go up and down fast. I reapply after each winter just for good measure.

Hi there

I agree with MIBPreacher. I was told to replace the motor for the DS window (same problems as OP). I used gig-a-lo lubricant and it worked wonders. No problems anymore, and fast ups and downs now, event in the winter and when the windows are dirty. Now, I need to fix the damn switch on the PS.

I own a 98 venture and had this problem. First i replaced the window regulator and lubed the weather stripping and adjusted the track. This fixed the problem for about 6 months. Then it started tipping half way up again. This time i replaced the weather stripping(felt lined stripping) This is a GM part. It has worked gret ever sense.
