Unhappy No power to new head unit in 1997 Prizm

I just installed a new Sony head unit in my 1997 Geo Prizm. I got it all hooked up, turned on my car, and nothing happend. I then hooked up my stock radio and it no longer worked either. Did anybody else experience similar problems? I read somewhere on the internet that it might have to do with the anti-theft detterrant system in the stock radio.

Re: No power to new head unit in 1997 Prizm

A friend of mine had to hook up his stock head unit in the trunk to get his Pioneer to work. It was a 2002 cavalier. I'm not sure if they make a remote kit for it or not but he had the same problem you guys are having. I'll try and find out if there is a remote kit and post back as quick as i can. Im Pretty sure he had to keep power to the head unit while doin all this tho. if worst comes to worst you could run a couple wires from your fuse box to the head unit. It'll work and no one will see the wires unless they climb under the dash and start looking for them. Just make sure theyre not gonna ground out on something.
