Second Gen. Probe & Newer Cougar.. all want some

Damn. Another boring night in Small Town USA. Me and my buddy (Guy with that 05 Z71 Silverado) were trying to think of some stuff to do, after we finished hooking up the CB in our vehicles (Who knew.. something so old could be so fun? lol) We decided to call up one of our female friends and see what she was doing. Turns out she was hanging out with a couple other guys. Oh well.. time for plan B.. which we dont know what that is yet. My friend decides to head to McDonals, and me and another buddy decide to leave town, and head back towards our hang out spot in the country, when we pass our female friend, and the other guy heading into town.. at first I wasnt sure who it was, since it had chrome wheels, but then I rememberd he got new wheels for his car. I slam on the brakes, crank the wheel and nail it, doing a 180, and jump into persuit mode. I decide to hang back a bit, and see what they're doin. We head down the road, when we catch a red light. Shit, so I quick duck into a gas station before we're seen. Just as we turned the light changed to green, so we whip another 180, and get back out on the road. Unfortunately, we catch the same redlight, while they pull away. I figure.. its a neighoborhood they pulled into, couldnt have gotten too far. I catch up to some tail lights, and watch them turn right. sweet. cought back up. I turn right.... WTF? Its a culdasac. Hm. I turn back out, when I see them flyin out of another road. Tricky bastard. I jump on it, and get right behind him.

We go on down the road, when he goes WOT. Now let me describe this car. A 2nd Gen. Probe SE. 2.0L 4cyl, Automatic, stock besides chrome wheels, a fart cannon, and a huge APC decal. Smoke bellows out of his exhaust.. I get close to him, and go for the pass. The fucker decides to cut me off. Sum bitch! I qucik duck right, and switch to left, but still manages to block me. We finally get to a wider portion of the road, and I got WOT. He cant block me now. I decide o leave it in OD. The tranny kicks in down to third, and the sweet melody of a straight piped 4.6 downs out the annoying sound of a long, wet, farting sound. (His car. )

I pass him, and decide to continue on my merry way, when my cell phone rings. Hm.. I hope she isnt calling to bitch at me for following her. I pick up..

"Hallo?"
"Hey, (Name, another friend) wants to race you?"
"Ok?"
"Yeah, we gotta go get his car though, so wait at the gas station"
"Alright. You better not BS'sing me"
"Were not, You better be there"

So I pull into the gas station which doubles as the towns local hang out spot. I fire up a cigar, and talk to some of my friends, and let them know whats going on. 15 minutes later, he pulls up.

"Okay, lets race"
"Where? Interstate?"
"No, I know of some place.."
"Alright, I'll follow you."

When the people hanging out at the gas station "You better not lose to that bitch car, its a fuckin girls car".. "you better fuckin smoke his ass"

I'm thinking to myself. "Well. I HOPE I win." and start doing some math. It has the 3.0L V6. 200 HP stock. He has no mods. My car weighs almost a thousand pounds more, and makes just as much or a tad bit more HP.

We head out down into THE sticks, one county over. We jump on the main road, 2 lanes, each direction. we toy around for a bit. Going from 50 roll's up to about 110. The first time we did it, I slowly walked him, untill we cut it before we got pulled. As we got farther out into the country, we were doin about 120, just toying with eachother some more. Thats about when I slow it down, and decide I've pushed my luck far enough. My friend in the Silverado fly by, and gets side by side with the Cougar. They both take off from about a 60 roll. By 90, my friend has about 1/4 car lenngth on him, and by 110, about a half. Thats when he hit is 4-ways and called it a win.

We slow down, and turn onto some random country road. We go down the road a few miles, which has a series of trick curves. Im thinking to myself "Is this the RACE?" I match him move for move, every chicane, S-Curve, and rolling hill. when we some up to a sharp curve that has a 2 mile long straight

"Okay this is it.."
(Long pause...)
"Well.. lets line em up."

We line up. My friend in the Silverado pulled over into a field. On the third honk, we go.

HONK HONK HONK.

WTF? I check my mirror, and he didnt even move. WTF?!

I throw it into Reverse, "WTF!!" "I wasnt ready!"

I yell over to my friend in the truck "Okay, lets try this again"

I yell over.. "YOU READY THIS TIME!?"

HONK I power brake it up to 1700 HONK I shift it into first, and select "Flirtin' With Disaster" off my Dukes Of Hazzard sound track HONK I nail it

I instantly pull a half car length on him. Guess FWD's cant launch huh? I spin it all the way though first, nearly getting completely sideways. I let it hit the rev limiter to stop spinning, then nail second, and spin some more. DAMNIT. I check my mirror, and see him clsoing the gap to a fender Halfway though second it stops spinning, and the RPMs fall way down. SHIT! I keep my foot matted to the carpet, and shift to third at 5300. I check my mirror again, he starting to fall back by about half, or 3/4 car length. Click it into drive, and keep pulling.. and pulling...and pulling. By 120 I had nearly 1.5 bus lengths. I decide to kill it. (plus my limiter was about to kick in) and hit my 4-ways. I let out a "Duke Boys yell" .. "WHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

He catches up and we pull over, and my friend in the Silverado catches up. He asks "Who won" I throw up my arms as if to say "me. DUH!" But I didnt want to be a dick about it. Everyone in the Cougar had an awkward silence. "Well, I guess we're gone.." They leave in the opposite direction fo town. We decide to head back into town. I pat my ole Thunderbird "Nice one, old lady" with a big ole shit eatin grin.

Good kill. The newer cougars had a 2.5 cylinder 170 horsepower motor. I'm not surprised you smoked him, as it is a 16 sec. car.

If you have a extra friend rollin in a different car have him film your races for you next time........

yea those cougars are fun to race... i've beat one too... close race though... since my car's heavier with a lil more hp.
