Buying an MKIV

Okay, let me just say...I'm new to supra's, so I thought I'd ask you all before buying one. Here's the story, I know this doctor lady that is like 50+ years old, she has an MKIV TT/ Targa/ 6speed. It's a 94 and she has owned it since the day it rolled off the showroom floor. It has 132000 miles on it and has been serviced regularly at the toyata dealer she got it from. The only major thing she's had to fix is one of the turbos, she had it replaced a couple years ago. I test drove it today and the most I'll have to pay for it (if I can't talk her down more) is $11500. Is one with 132k on it worth that much?? I really like the car and how fast it is, and hear they are very moddable. Anyway, let me know what you think, and tell me if there is anything I should look for. I will have a local import shop do a once over before I buy it though.

Re: Buying an MKIV

...Sounds like a complete ripoff...
But you should give me her name and number, and maybe schedule an appointment for me to buy the car from her so you wont have to.

If you didnt catch that its a great deal, these cars go easily for double of what shes asking.

Even with that many miles on it? Anything I should look for? (mechanical wise)

Thanks for the replies...and thanks M3 for that link...lots of good info on there. I guess as soon as I have the cash I'm gonna have my mechanic give it a once over, and if everything checks out fine, I'll probably buy it! I can't wait!!

Re: Buying an MKIV

all you would have to do is go on ebay and look how much there going for. they are a rare car and there pretty easy to maintane but supras a bad for blowing head gaskets. i think its a good price.

Re: Buying an MKIV

Wow there is a lot of crap in this thread.

Any MKIV turbo 6spd in good condidtion, even with 200k miles on it will sell for well over 20k.

Supra's are not bad for blowing head gaskets, especially if it just has stock twins.

99% of all Supra's on ebay are total scams. I have seen pictures of my car listed as a Supra for sale on ebay twice.

If you want to get a good idea of what MKIV's sell for, got to www.supraforums.com and look in the "cars for sale" section, or go to www.speedforsale.com
