i am a broke college guy and i own a 1997 Stratus, 4cyl 2.4 liter
for quite some time now, i have been dealing with my car "missing" a good bit. it was the worst on hills, it would miss miss miss as it tried to climb the hill, then all of a sudden let loose and accelerate. most recently, it was pure hell trying to climb a hill. also, when i try to quickly pull out from a stand-still, it sputters and misses badly. i started my car the other day, it warmed up for a moment and i noticed the idle struggling till it shut off. i started it again, only to have it shut off immediately. since then, it will crank and try to turn over, but will not. last spring, i had a diagnostic check reveal that there was a misfire on cylinder 3. i changed the coil pack and it cleared up for a while, then progressively brought me to my current situation. i just purchased a OBDII scanner (Actron model CP9135) and it gave me 6 trouble codes. they are as follows: P0443, P1490, P1498, P0125, P1495, P0303 i should also add that my water pump is leaking and needs replaced. i have the definitions for each of those codes, but i do not know what in particular is preventing my car from starting. also, if that same problem is causing my terrible "miss", or if it is another seperate issue. thanks in advance for any guidance. Re: car wont start, sputtered like crazy when it did last run -- have 6 trouble codes
Cure the trubble codes, and it should start up. right? There trubble codes mean something, there for a reason, this would/ is why the car is not starting. try fixing then see what happens.
