brake pad changing trouble

I can't get the cylinder to compress. I tried turning it clockwise -- it just spins without going in. I tried using a bar clamp -- it won't force it down. I openned the little brake-fluid release bolt and let out the excess fluid. nothing. The damn thing won't go in.

ANyone know how to get it to go in?

Re: brake pad changing trouble

Huge pain! This is a two man job. One needs to apply constant light pressure with a C-clamp while the other turns the cylider. You also have to release the fluid. Figuring out this process almost had me swearing off VW's for life.
