Sirius Radio placement
Just wondering if anyone on here has a sirius radio installed in their blazer and where they might have put it. I havent really seen a mounting kit specifically for a 98 blazer but i have the car kit with the system i'm sure i can make fit somewhere - just wanted to maybe see some pics/ideas from other users.

I did this, and I have it installed perfectly in my 1997 blazer. Any other questions, PM me.

Re: Sirius Radio placement
Sorry, I should have specified - its a plug n play unit xact xr7 model, like a starmate. I seen some of these mounts but im not to sure about them yet. I have a JVC radio that will allow me to eventually hook the output directly to the HU, however i need to buy a special part for that.
I just dont want the receiver mounted to close to the passenger side where some one can bump into it. The other thing is i'm guess it's not good to run the antenna wire along the same path as my sub/amp wires due to interference? |

Re: Sirius Radio placement
What about the console? Do you have a cd player in the lower console by the cup holders? Maybe on top of that. I am not sure of your exact unit but there is a HUGE space under the trays in the center console if you have to mount any controlers. DO NOT run any wires along RCA connects or along FM modulators as this will cause interference. Good luck.

Re: Sirius Radio placement
I just installed an xact xtr3ck a couple days ago.:
http://www.sirius.com/servlet/Conten...=1126670687120 I mounted it on the driver's side of the radio, above where my right knee is. The antenna is centered in the rear, it is the recommended distance from the edge (I don't remember the exact distance). I ran the wire in through the hole for the third brake light wiring, and tucked it in down the edge of the headliner. I then ran it behind the trim on the front roof support, under the dash, and to the sirius unit. Now I'm just waiting for Bubba the LoveSponge to come back on the air. |

Re: Sirius Radio placement
mounting the antenna outside then i guess. I know a friend of mine had his installed somewhere and they just put it on the dash up by the window. Probably where im going to put that - i dont want it outside for someone to rip off or something. As far as the head unit, im not exactly sure as to where im going ot put it. I wouldnt mine to put it somehow on the console below the heater controlls, or ever if i could make a mount to attach it where the ashtray is. I dont smoke and i could even use the power from there to power the radio im guessing. On top of that when the unit is not in the car i can just close the ashtray and hide the mount from plain view.

Before I swapped out my PNP III w/ an SIR-PNR1 (basically a sportster) I used a gooseneck and mounted it on my center console.. (Don't have that head unit anymore either. Both the head unit and the PNP III were installed in the wrangler)

I pulled out the entire ashtray assembly in my '02 and made a bracket to hold the Sirius unit in the ashtray's old position.
It's a Kenwood Here 2 Anywhere; I hardwired the power to a switched source so it comes on and off with the car.

Re: Sirius Radio placement
Booch - I like the way you have yours mounted. It gives it a clean and professional look. Also, hardwiring it to a switched source is a good idea since you will probably be listening to it rather than the regular radio.
Nice job...

I also put in lighted mirror / dual sunvisors, an overhead console with compass, auto-dimming rear view mirror, and power to my radar detector, Sirius radio, and the FM modulator. All of this was pulling off the delayed power wire from the back of the stock radio (a little much!). After starting to blow fuses on a regular basis, the radio delay power now triggers a relay. This relay pulls power off a constant 12v I have from the battery (going to my Kenwood amp), and everything works great now! |

Here is my S50 pictures suck sorry its raining i did what i could. I ran the annenta wire along the head liner on the drivers side to the back. I get great reception and you dont really see it unless you go on the roof of the truck.
