Voltage meter reading high

Hello all
A few weeks ago I posted that my 92' PA had an overcharging problem which caused the whole car to go haywire. After changing the battery, the car worked fine for about a day, then the volt needle shot WAY above 13 and the tranny stopped shifting again. After further examination, we found that the Engine Control Computer was faulty, and had it replaced. Multimeter tests show that the alt is putting out just the right amount of voltage, and the car is running great now. However, the volt needle still shows extremely high output ratings, well over 13 volts. Is this what it should read? I don't recall what my voltmeter read before the problems began (should've been right about 12 volts, shouldn't it?)but if mine is reading incorrectly I defiently want to get it fixed! Thanks for the help!

Re: Voltage meter reading high

Good to here you got the earlier problem resolved! An alternator should put out over 13 volts when charging. Most of them range from 13.1 V to 13.8 when engine rpm is above 1500. It sounds like yours is operating normal.
