Different versions of the 3800 engine ??
Hi all,
As some of you may know the engine in my 1993 Pontiac Trans Sport SE 3800 Tuned Port Injection died many months ago. I have managed to source another 3800 engine in the UK, again from a 93 Trans Sport that had been scrapped due to crash damage. The Engine appears to be difference in that the TPI Intake manifold is all Alloy, where as mine is black Plastic. Also the Oil pressure switch is on the front of the engine, where as on my old engine it is on the back. I am going to put my plastic inlet manifiold onto the replacement engine, and extend the oil pressure switch wire so it can reach around the front of the engine. So.... It would appear that during 1993 they changed the TPI manifolds from alloy to plastic. Did anyone else know this ??. Also are there other changes in this engine that i am not aware of ?? Thanks, Paul Taylor. Reading, UK. 93 Trans Sport SE. 87 Camaro Z28 IROC-Z. |

P.S. It's not the oil pressure switch
, it's the knock sensor!
