Couple more questions on a Bronco II

First off, the parking brake doesn't work...how hard is it to replace this and how much would it cost?

Second...dumb question but does anyone know if the shift knob can come off? my brother had an '86 Ranger that he switched both the shift knobs on (for the tranny and 4WD) and i want to switch mine.

It's for a 1988 Bronco II...thanks!

Re: Couple more questions on a Bronco II

You can probably get the shift knob off by pulling it, (Which may not be a great habit to start.) A tiny screwdriver may be needed.

As far as the parking brake goes, check the linkage(s) starting with the pedal-make sure it's still connected to the cable. Then, from under the truck, check to make sure the Cable moves when the pedal is depressed. Then make sure the first cable (pedal-side) is connected to the yoke assembly (tire side). There is a bracket that is used. From there, check to make sure each side of the wheel-yoke cable runs into each rear wheel.

From there, you'll have to take the wheels off, and the brakes apart to make sure your shoes, levers and adjustments are in working order.
