Smile 99 pontiac grand am window off track

My 99 pontiac grand am rear side passenger window is off track. It goes down (past where it should stop) when the window button is pressed). I've removed the panel but don't know where to go from here (how to actually get to the window to set it back on track). I can manually push it up, but it just goes back down.
Waiting on some advice. Thanks.

Re: 99 pontiac grand am window off track

My guess is that the white window clips that connect the metal cables driven by the motor to the window sashes broke. This is very common, and actually just happened to me recently. Do you see pieces of broken white plastic in the bottom of the door cavity? That would deffinately indicate it. If that is the case, we can give you instructions on how to install new clips.

Re: 99 pontiac grand am window off track

Welcome to the club on the grand am windows failing. Mine both fell driver side fell because of the pressure on the cable, it was tangled around the motor gear. Just replace it and put it back on the track and if it still doesnt work check inside the motor housing. Havnt personally looked into the rear doors but should be able to just pop the door panel off and remove a plastic shield covering it and you should be able to see or feel the clips that hold the window and pop them back in place.

I'm not sure you have the right post you are responding to. You may want to re-check where you have posted your reply.
Regards.

Thanks for responding to my post silentbob1416... I considered doing the same thing, unfortunately it rains quite a bit in Fla and doesn't get as cold in the winter, so I decided to take it to my mechanic... He said it was the regulator/motor and would replace it for me. It shouldn't cost too much since I removed the door panel myself. Best of luck to you and thanks again for responding to my post.
