transfer case motor 2000 silvy

ok is there a way to test the transfer case motor and is it super hard to pull the front drive shaft off ?Unfortunately me and my chevy have hit hard times and my delarship here are like the quack doctors who used to sell that miracle water in 1800's....The drive train is just going to get worse. I have replaced the dash switch and the front encoder motor all super cheap from a guy that wrecked his truck here locally but he didnt have the transfer case motor .... Reason why Iam asking is itis stuck I beleive in auto 4wd or plain 4wd high not sure which but anyhow any comments or help would be appreciated especially if someone ran into same problem "stuck in 4wd"
