new AT shift knob complete

well I did it. http://secure15.dellhost.com/~d30022...nobs/ra-87.jpg I decided to get this one cuz of the blue which matches the center caps on my rims. plus it was 60 bucks. It was no problem taking the shift knob out. But it was a pain in the ass to put the new one on.....connecting the O/D wire to the knob wire was a hassle, still need to adjust it cuz now its always on O/D. Plus one screw is missing in action, but 3 out of 4 aint bad... anyways its shifting fine so far and looks pretty good....

I will have pics up very soon. To get the stock knob off you gotta take off the indicator cover and loosen the indicator so that you can work around that wires etc. then take off the two front screws..a little nudging and pulling and it should pop loose..then u gotta cut the O/D wires then..voila...the stock knob is off!

wow, gotta take off the indicator at the base of the shift knob, huh? lots of work. how does the indicator come off? do I have to pull off the wood trimming around the indicator?

thanx bud, just trying to see what needs to be done cause I wanna get one of those aftermarket knobs too. hehe

Im assuming that p10s and 11s have the same shift cover setup.......Anyways, yeah you have to take off the trimming around the indicator, which i popped off with a flathead screwdriver.... then there are four screws that hold the indicator in place....its a little tricky, just make sure you dont drop any screws like i did ...i took the screws off the indicator so that I could move it around in order to get to the overdrive wires which you are supposed to attach to the new knob, you'll see what I mean when u cut the wires....

Azn...yeah the O/D button on this particular knob is on top

how much did the shift knob cost you? im thinking of getting that one, it looks nice. and for shifting, is it the type where you push the whole shifter down instead of a button?

The action of the knob is pretty kewl..very different from stock of course...gives it a whole knew feel I guess. But beware...when I screwed the indicator back on I guess it was slightly off so when i went to start the car, the knob was slightly off park a couple times and wouldnt start! after a little nudging of the knob it started..whew....but I opened it up and adjusted it a little...I hope that this corrects the problem...I'm not sure if this new knob creates some shifting position error..hmm

hummm... wonder if the switch is not disengaging enough...like its pressed halfway or something. ??????

i'm gonna get the one with the switch on the top of the knob (levoc). or, I might modify the stock knob to make it smoother. shift knob does change the overall feel of the car. it could even make driving an AT fun!!!

No its not that at all, I think it just has something to do with the location of the shifter was slighly off. Anyways it seemed ok after I adjusted it, I'll give it some time to get used to....and make sure that it is corrected...but yeah I agree that for whatever reason it gives it a sportier feel, plus its something I can say that I did myself!!!
