damn emissions problems

My girlfriend has a 1997 eagle talon tsi and it has repeatedly failed the emissions test ever since she have bought it. I've had some repairs done and the only thing that fails the emission is the obd reading. We've taken the emissions test at least 5 times and have failed every time. I just want to get rid of the damn thing because of all the trouble it's given us. I've heard about mitsubishi and eagle automobiles having problems with their obd resetting everytime they turn the car off. I've also been told to talk to a serviceman at a mitsubishi dealership and find out if there is a specific drive cycle that I need to do before I go back to the emissions place. Before I go to the dealership where they'll most likely try and get me to spend money I wanted to see if any of you guys were knowledgable about this problem or if any of you have had this problem before. If any of you have been through this before and know a specific drive cycle or have any suggestions for me I would be very appreciative.

Thanks-B

Have the code pulled at Auto-Zone for free . Generally it will pull PO442
or a similar code. Once the code is pulled then they can reset it and it will clear the code. See how long it takes for the code to return. You can also clear the check engine light by disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes.
