Replacement parts, better than OEM
I had my suspension checked out the other day on my '00 GTP and it turns out my sway bar and control arm is cracked on the passenger side, along with the struts needing replaced. I haven't hit anything, so we're wondering if the car might've been like this since I bought it 2 years ago. So before I go and have my mechanic order a bunch of oem replacements(which tend to be way overpriced) are their any other brands you would recommend that would prove better or cost less? I saw the KYB factory replacements struts on PFYC and was considering those. I haven't looked around much yet.

Re: Replacement parts, better than OEM
KYB makes an excellent quality strut, so if they are cheaper than OEM, go for it. Monroe sensa-tracs are nice units as well, but stay away from struts made by Gabriel, as they are JUNK!!!! Replace the upper strut mounts at the same time as the struts, and get a 4-wheel alignment afterward. Cheaping out on the mounts will result in doing it again, and the car will have to be aligned again also.

Re: Replacement parts, better than OEM
You can't go wrong with the KYB GR2s as an alternative to the OEM GM struts. Thats what I have. Stay away from Monroe/Gabriels.
If you are referring to the lower control arm where the sway bar connects you will have to use GM OEM but boneyards normally have them a lot cheaper than new. Most damage is cause by some sort of impact damage or collision and not due to a defect.
