Why Aluminum?

I've noticed alot of supercars have aluminum chassis. this may be a dumb question. but why aluminum and why not titanium?

because aluminium is expensive to handle as it is.

going into specifics, titanium is very hard to process in terms of it's extraction and especially in the later stages when you want to create usuable shapes to build things. you also need to operate at very high temperatures at which point gases start to dissolve into the metal itself which makes it brittle. you can of course operate in a vacuum to prevent this from happening but this just makes the process even more expensive.

to compare, aluminium is more abundant than titanium and while it is also a pain to work with, (with its melting point being so close to is boiling point) you don't have to worry so much with it turning brittle though the forming process.
in general, it is also easier to deal with aluminium because the infrastructure already exists to deal with it.
for a long time, because of the costs involved with the processing of titanium, its use was limited the industries that had the neccessary funding and budgets to do so.
