Code P0442 on 02 sport trac

I have a 2002 sport trac with 72k miles. Recently the check engine light came on and the scan tool shows code P0442 -evaporative emmissons leak-small.

I understand most of this system from reading but was wondering if there are any "ususal suspects" to start with that might save a little time and money.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A faulty gas cap, maybe?? Or even a loose gas cap.

the filler neck can crack on those too. might check for that. a small leak is considered .040" which is pretty dern small. if you cant find it with the usual suspects then have someone look at it who knows what theyre doing.
