Question 99 grand cherokee loses power while driving

Hi-
I have a 99 GJC laredo with 109,000 miles on it. Ran great until 1 month ago. At a lite, car died, started back up right away. Later while driving, rpm's dropped and i had no acceleration power for about 2 seconds then all resumed back to normal. No more problems until tonite. I was driving, all of a sudden the rpm's started dropping and when i put my foot on gas, there was no change. As soon as i started to pull over the car resumed normal function.
Could it be a clogged fuel filter? The first time it happened I thought it was water in the gas tank so i put an additive in and all was better. Now, i am stumped. Any advice?
thanks

Welcome to your first post on AF.
The fuel filter would be the first thing to check.
But with 109k I would check other tune up stuff.
How are the plugs? Any check eng lights?
Service history?

I have a post labeled 95 GC Idle Problem with the same problem. When I stop sometimes the rpm's drop extremely low and sometimes even shuts off, but always starts right up. Sometimes my rpms go up when I give it gas but I dont move either, I soon found out I was leaking tranny fluid heh.

thanks for the advice

Thanks everyone for the replies. As far as service on the truck, it gets a general "tune-up" once a year. I change the oil myself, after last oil change though, i noticed a little oil leaking, tightened up the filter and no problems yet. I was hit from behind about 5 months ago, had to get a new rear bumper, plus the gas tank was damaged and needed to be replaced. Since then, when it rains I get some moisture in the cargo area on the carpet, i think it is from a poor welding job in the spare compartment. I am wondering if I am maybe getting some water in the gas tank? How could I check for that?
Thanks

Check fuel filter for moisture/water/rust.
