Adding power to a 3.1 se

02 3.1 se with 82K. What can I do to improve performance?

It depends on how much you are willing to spend and availability of mods. There are aftermarket mods out there for the 3.1 but not as much as the 3800 so you wll be limited. I know the 3.4L which is similar takes to mods quite well. Checkout RSM Racing and PFYC.com.

RSM racing has an Air Induction System with K&N air filter...will this really work?

We have one that is similar except the cone filter sits under the fenderwell. Got it off of Ebay for around $70.00. Also purchased and installed the RSM 62mm throttle body. I noted that the acceleration is better and the engine pulls up to 100 mph without feeling weak like before. Have not run any ET time tests yet.

Another suggestion is to consider an overdrive pulley which replaces the stock crank pulley. Also, a hi-flow CAT convertor. Not sure about the 3.1L but DHP has re-programmed PCMs available. However, they provide custom programming on the 3.1L. Good luck!
