Mac performance?

Hey, is anyone using Mac performance parts? I own a '03 Silverado ext. cab short bed 4x4 and am currently in the market for a performance exhaust. I like the Gibson extreme duals, however it requires the removal of the spare tire. I stumbled upon the Mac performance split dual system which says it retains the spare tire. I wanted to know if anyone has this exhaust system, or has heard anything about it. Thanks..

I havent heard anything about the mac systems but have you thought about going to and exhaust shop and getting a custom system with the style you like.

I have put some thought into getting a custom set up. I know of one good exhaust shop in my area, and then there are atleast a half dozen off-road specialty shops within 40 miles of me that I am sure do custom exhaust. Can I expect the same performance gains with a custom set up vice a brand name? If I do a custom set up, any suggestions on the type of muffler to use? I want a good deep rumble, not too loud, and none of that obnoxious "bumble bee in a jar" crap that sounds like my weed-eater!! Thanks!

I would have to say performace gains would be very close, the shop putting the system together would be able to give you some good recomendations on size and what not to get optimal performance. I would also have to say most people on this forum have alot of the same mufflers, some of the popular ones being: Flowmaster, Borla, Magnaflow. Now i cant speak exactly for the whole group, but research some previous threads to gain more info on what people like about their set ups. I have a flowmaster 40 series it is one of the loudest available, it does however have in cab resonance but ive also heard the the 40 series delta flow tries to eliminate the resonance and keep em loud. I would check some web sites and see if they offer sound clips or talk to the local muffler shop. Best of luck on your decision and sorry so long.
