Exclamation Ignition Coil Wires

I have a 95 Avenger 2.5L V6 and I'm replacing the ignition system with a MSD 6A and a MSD Blaster SS Coil with a self-modified cap. Everythings finished except I need to hook up the coil and I have no clue which wires coming out of the distributor are the +/- that I need to attach to the new coil. I called my dealer and they don't have the wiring diagram and neither does my Haynes manual. I've also found out through research that if I should short out something by trying the wrong wires, that the entire distributor will have to be replaced as they do not sell anything of it separately (runs about $360). If anyone can help me out of this predicament, your help will be much appreciated.

I have a MSD 6al and MSD Blaster 2 coil. It is a great system. I remember seeing a guy with a 6al and SS coil though. If I remember correctly the blaster 2 coil tells you right on top of it what is positive and what is negative. Coming from the box you will use the orange wire and the smaller black wire. You should be able to google search for a set up or look for blaster ss coil install. I think some people on Cardomain.com have that set up on their Avengers.
If you need more instructions I could tell you in detail how I hooked up mine. Even though I used a different box and coil.

You dont use the stock distributor wires to hook up the MSD one. The MSD coil is triggered by your 6a box. Using the orange and "small" black wire. The heavier gauge red and heavier gauge black will connect to the battery terminals. Make sure to use strong connectors to hook them up. I think its either a white or red wire from the 6a box that connects to the old trigger wire on the back side of the distributor facing the firewall.
If you have done this and know what I am talking about never mind but if not let me know and I will double check my car. I have a 98 Avenger ES V6.
Hope this helps I wouldnt want you to get a new distributor. They have an internal coil and the MSD bypasses it.

Re: Ignition Coil Wires

The wires I'm inquiring about are the wires coming out of the distributor from the stock coil that I need to attack to my ignition. Theres a connector with a whole bunch of wires and I just need to know which is the + and - for the stock coil.

The MSD 6a box triggers the coil with the orange and black wire that comes from it. The only thing you need from the stock coil is the trigger wire and remote turn on wire.

Put a small connector on the white wire from the MSD box. This wire will need to connect to the back of the distributor. Pull the connector with one wire on it, in the back of the distributor facing the firewall, off. Use a small mirror and flashlight to look at the terminal where the connector was hooked up. You will see two small wire clip pins. The small white MSD wire from the box needs to connect to the top pin. Now add some tape to the white wire. Wrap some electrical tape around it and the connector to keep it from pulling off and to seal the opening to the distributor. Now leave the one wire connector OFF. You will need to connect the thin red wire from the MSD box to this wire. This wire should be black with a red stripe and it is a one wire connector. Splice the MSD red wire into this wire with a connector like a pac man style connector. This is the ignition wire to turn on the MSD box. You should be able to figure out the rest.
The thin black wire coming from the MSD 6a box connects to the negative terminal on the blaster coil. The orange wire coming from the MSD 6a box connects to the postive terminal on the blaster coil. You dont use any other stock coil wires to hook the blaster coil up. Hope this helps you.
