Nah, thats alright, everyones a noob on a car at some point. Honestly, on another note, I would say go for the 2000-2002 model cougar because the 99 has some problems starting off like the oil pump and some other things, and just a tip, if you're buying a new one you may need to replace the flywheel because with mine, when I first bought it, after about a week of driving, sometimes whenever I would try to start up it would make a high pitch whine and I took it to the shop and the problem is the flywheel has lost some teeth so I looked it up and more than a few other cougar owners have the same problem, but anyways.... There is no difference between the coupes and the 'hatches'. Some people think it differently and look at the rear hatch as a third door (I personally just refer to it as a trunk), but technically, all cougars are only 2 doors. By the way, a coupe is a 2 door car, a hatch is just the trunk, well, hatch that not only opens up to the trunk but if need be, you can climb through the seats without removing anything (take it the trunk cover on the inside is taken off)... Hope this helps ya, and have a Merry Christmas
